Quang Tri, about 60 km north of Hue, is the place for those who hope to witness the remains of the war caused by the US -fighter -bombers or the B52s. To Quang Tri, you can visit famous sites including Quang Tri Citadel and the holy land of La Vang, revolutionary vestiges such as Hien Luong Bridge, Tung Gate, and Vinh Moc Tunnels. We also visit Khe Sanh base, Rockpile. . those places is like the most dangerous flashpoint during the war.

DMZ: Just a 5km either side of the river - a stark contrast to what really took place in this region. In fact, the surrounding region experienced some of the heaviest fighting during the Vietnam War. Bomb damage and craters are still evident in paddies, beside the railway tracks and beside the roads and bridges.

Itinerary

We head north on Highway One toward the DMZ. We pass through Quang Tri City and visit Long Hung Church, Bo De School as we come into Dong Ha. At the Song Bo Dieu we walk over the Dong Ha Bridge(destroyed by John Ripley which stopped the initial NVA advance during the 1972 Easter Offensive). Continuing north we stop at Gio Linh FSB Forward (Alpha2)and the Peace Bridge over the Song Ben Hai, the river that was the only true physical demarcation between the North and South.

We ride to the Vinh Moc Tunnels, an incredible complex of tunnels that were dug by local people to evade the constant US bombing of the area. The tunnels include kitchens, wells and a 'hospital', as well as living quarters for roughly 60 families. The tunnels, which are at a depth of 30m, are still in very good condition and saved the villagers' lives.

We then head west to visit Con Thien. At Cam Lo we turn west on Highway 9 to visit Camp Carroll. Then past the Rockpile&Khe Sanh Combat Base where we will spend ample time exploring.
