I grew up in New York City. My father ran a machine shop on Mott Street in Manhattan's Little Italy section. It was a small, family-owned business and we all pitched in. After college I worked in film and in international news. In 1990 I accepted a job in Washington DC, thinking I would eventually return to New York. Instead, I fell in love.
Washington is easy to love - the world's most powerful city is also one of the world's most beautiful - wide avenues, old neighborhoods, gardens, tree-lined streets.
The story of Washington D. C. is also the story of the beginning of a new nation. Its very existence is linked to the efforts of people such as George Washington, Thomas Jefferson, James Madison and Alexander Hamilton. Today, its memorials and buildings are part of our American identity and remind us of the important moments in our common history. These are the stories that inspire me and these are the stories I want to share.
Update: I have been with ToursByLocals for over a year and I think I'm very lucky. My association with ToursByLocals has given me the opportunity to meet wonderful and interesting people from all over the world. My "Hamilton" tour has attracted families with kids who are crazy about the Broadway show and could recite the the entire score by heart. The entire ToursByLocals experience has been amazing.
