Half-day Private Tour of Cusco and Sacsayhuaman Ruins

Visit Cusco, the main capital of the Incas, founded in 1100 A. D.

When speaking of Cusco it's inevitable to speak of history and culture since its name is universally recognized as the origin of one of the most important and ancient cultures in the world: the Incas. Cusco was in fact the capital of this great empire and it's the oldest continually inhabited city in the Western hemisphere.

This tour focus on the Must-See places in Cusco: the blend of the Inca and Colonial architecture and religious features meet beautifully in Cusco to give it its charm and character!

Itinerary

I will pick you up from your hotel at 13:30 hrs. to introduce you to the heart of the city of Cusco. We'll visit the Cathedral which was built between 1560 and 1664 out of large slabs of rocks taken from the Inca construction of Sacsayhuaman. It houses important collections of gold and silver works of the colonial period, elaborately engraved wooden altars and a beautiful collection of oil on canvas paintings from the Escuela Cusqueña. Then we continue to the Temple of the Sun (Qoricancha) located into the Convent of Santo Domingo: the convent was built on the spectacular Qoricancha. This was the most important temple dedicated to the worship of the Sun. Afterwards we head to Sacsayhuaman, one of the most impressive sites built by the Incas. Finally, we will visit some Incan sites such as Q'enqo, Pucapucara, and Tambomachay After the tour we will return to your hotel (at about 18:00 hrs).
