Visit Knossos Palace, a winery and Archanes traditional village

If you only have a few hours in Crete and you want to get the most out of it, this is just the perfect tour to combine history, traditions and nature!
Our day will start at the Palace of Knossos, a landmark of the Minoans, the first elaborate European civilization. Here the mythical king Minos kept in his Labyrinth the legendary bull-headed creature, Minotaur. Myths and reality related to this ancient world will be presented in a vivid narration, a real voyage back in time! Our quest will continue in the countryside, to taste one of the most beloved products of this land since the Minoan times, Cretan wine. A local winery expert will explain traditional and modern production methods, will present indigenous varieties and then we will taste the best Cretan wines!
The day will finish with a relaxing stroll and free time in the village of Archanes with its characteristic traditional square and beautiful architecture.

Itinerary

-We will pick you up from your hotel or Heraklion port and go to the Palace of Knossos, 5 km to the south of Heraklion city center, where we will have a guided tour of the archaeological site.
-We will continue to the hinterland of Heraklion prefecture, south of Knossos, to the winery, where you will have a full tour from an expert about the history of Cretan wine and local wine varieties. We will show you the facilities of the winery and production methods and in the end, you will taste local wine varieties!
- We will go to the traditional village of Archanes, situated among vineyards next to the mountain of Youchtas. It is one of the most beautiful villages in Crete, preserving its beautiful neoclassical architecture, having a traditional square under the shade of a plane tree and pines, where you can enjoy a drink or food.
- After having free time in the village, we will end our tour and return to your hotel/cruise ship.
The row of stops may change, in order to avoid peak hours at Knossos or winery.
