Country Side and Montmorency Falls with a local private guide
For this private tour, we will be undertaking a trip within the Island of Orleans, which has been discovered by Jacques Cartier, in 1535. During a brief period of time, the site was called Bacchus Island, the Roman God of wine simply because of the abundance of vineyard. The following year, the emplacement was re-baptized Island of Orleans in honor of the Duke of Orleans, son of king Francis 1st.
Then, we will take the direction of the Montmorency Falls, which are 99 feet higher than the Niagara Falls. For a certain period of time (1791-1794), the Montmorency Manor has been occupied by the Duke of Kent, father of Queen Victoria. Later, the site was purchased by merchants using the falls as a source of power to cut wood, for the running of textile industry, and for the making of electricity. Today, the location became a tourist attraction and is now owned by a governmental agency.
Departure will take place at the cruise terminal, your hotel or appartment. Then, we will take the direction of the Montmorency Falls.
Our last destination will be the Island of Orleans;
-Exploration of the western tip of the Island in Ste-Pétronille where we will stop at the vineyard, and at the chocolate factory. Because of the glaciation period (10000 B. C. ), the village was surrounded by fresh water.
-A description of the shipbuilding period, with an hydrography and description of the Saint-Lawrence river, will be made in Saint-Laurent, the neighbouring parish.
-St-Jean was the emplacement where ship captains lived. We will take the Route du Mitan, which is 21 miles wide. You will see orchards, sugar shacks, and harvests. As a result of the glaciation period, the eastern tip of the island was surrounded by salt water, which is very beneficial for the fertilization of the ground.
-In Sainte-Famille, you'll have the opportunity to see the three steeples church, the only one in North America.
Meeting Location + Tour Duration
Meeting location: I will meet with you at the cruise terminal, your hotel or any other convenient place for you upon request.
End location: The tour will end at the cruise terminal, or the location of your choice upon request.
Duration: 5 hours
The trip will take place within a mini-van Dodge Grand Caravan, for the visit of the Island of Orleans. We will also be departing from the island within that vehicle. As for the Montmorency Falls, there will be a funicular service available on the site, if you wish to refrain from climbing the stairs. Nonetheless, we will need to walk a certain distance and climb some stairs to admire the falls.
This package includes the renting of a mini-van Dodge Grand Caravan, equipped with air-conditioning for the duration of the tour, one shut of wine for each traveler and my services as a guide. A 30 minutes stop will be made for a snack.
Estimated Local Cash Needed
35 0 - I suggest each traveler to be prepared to invest $35 for a meal, to take place during the tour. This includes taxes and tip. However, if a traveler orders a beverage (for instance alcohol), that estimate of local payment could reach $45.
The only extras that aren't included within the package are items for personal consumption such as bottle of water, souvenirs and snacks. Lunches and dinner remain the responsibility of the travelers.
I can create a customized tour if you wish to visit historical settlement located from the city. That package would include a rented mini-van Dodge Grand Caravan.

The scenery in Quebec City was beautiful and our favorite views were from Montmorency Falls. Of all our guides, Christian was the most prepared with guidebooks and great teaching information. He made all our stops so much more interesting with his stories. We all enjoyed our first taste of the French favorite ... poutine at Resto Pub L'Lie The wine tasting and local chocolate factory was fun and tasty. Our day with Christian was PERFECT! Hugs ...
