A driving tour of the Cotswolds with a little walking and optional visits to Downton Abbey filming locations

A circular drive through the Cotswolds, from the rich farmland in the east to the sheep pastures on the Cotswold edge, taking in the picturesque towns and villages, such as Stow-on-the-Wold, Bourton-on-the-Water, Winchcombe and the Slaughters, built from honey coloured limestone, sitting in a green rolling landscape.

Stopping for a walking tour of Chipping Campden with it's beautiful High Street and magnificent 'Wool Church' and looking at it's connections to the medieval wool trade and 19th century Arts and Crafts Movement. Also stopping to look at other towns, villages, manor houses, landscapes and prehistoric sites on route.

For devotees of Downton Abbey, we can visit filming locations in the series - however, the Abbey itself is booked months in advance so rarely possible.

This tour is very flexible and I can modify the route to take in towns, villages and places of particular interest to you.

See also my tours of the "Cotswolds and Stratford-upon-Avon" and of the "Cotswolds and Blenheim Palace"

Drive to the Cotswolds from the meeting point.

Visit famous towns and villages in the Cotswolds, including Stow-on-the-Wold, Bourton-on-the-Water, The Slaughters, Northleach, Winchcombe, Broadway and Broadway Tower and Chipping Campden.

Stop at a country pub for lunch.

Drive back to the agreed drop off point.

Meeting Location + Tour Duration

Meeting location: A hotel or railway station in the north Cotswolds, south Warwickshire or North Oxfordshire.

End location: Where we met or a location agreed when booking

Duration: 8 hours

I hire vehicles for driving between sites and normally use 'people carriers' (called a minivan in the USA I believe), like the Citroen Grand Picasso. The vehicles are fully insured, modern, comfortable, spacious and high so you can see more.

On this tour you can do little walking or none at all. We can wander though the heart of the market towns and villages or if you want to explore further we could take a short walk in the countryside.

What’s Included

The driving tour through Cotswolds with Anne, your knowledgeable driver guide, who will give you lots of interesting information.

Stops and walks around attractions in and around the Cotswolds.

Optional walks of up to 2 to 3 miles.

What’s Extra

Entrances to attractions and refreshments.

I offer driving tours from Oxford, Banbury, Stratford and North Cotswolds. I can pick up from a hotel or station. I do not offer day tours from London but can pick-up and drop-off on longer tours.
For walking tours, I pick up within 15 miles of the start.

A Recent Review of this tour

Anne is very engaging and she has an extensive knowledge of the Cotswold's history, geology, botany, and politics. She is a very good driver and she shared some of her special places to visit and experience. She tried very hard to find the things that interested us. We had a great time.
