Hi, my name is François and I propose you to follow me during your stay in the wonderful Island of Corsica.
Born and raised in Paris in 1970 from a Corsican father and a Breton mother, I have developed stronger attachments to my Mediterranean roots. After a first life as travel agent in Paris, I came back and settled in 2002 in my town of Porto Vecchio in the extreme south between an astonishing mountain and some of the Island's most beautiful beaches.
Since 2005, I provide my services as private tour guide and propose exclusive tours of Corsica all year round. My real pleasure (and challenge) is to welcome first time visitors in order to show them the best side of this -sometimes complicate- destination in making their journey easier.
Thanks to the values defended by its inhabitants, this land could keep solid traditions and offers a unique destination as a still secret Mediterranean place. Over known for its obvious natural beauty and its diversified landscape, Corsica is yet underestimated for its cultural heritage and its immaterial richness (History, language, food, . . . )
Passionate about History in General and the island one in particular, I have developed a taste and thus a real know-how in the discovery of an authentic Corsica and its hidden treasures, and hope to get rid of Napoleon as its unique historical reference. My enlightening comments are not only about ancient and modern History, fauna, flora, culture or geography but also about politics, economy, social behaviour, special relationship with France. . .
Spring 2016 was my debut on ToursByLocals and I hope that I'll satisfy you as much as the numerous other private guides listed on this site. I plan to have at least 6 or 7 private excursions very soon.
I am currently trying to develop new offers for out-of-the-season tours based upon the historical legacy and the local flavours and expect as many curious visitors as possible in the unexpected winter season from October to March.
Aboard my 9 seaters minibus with air-con, I propose daily tours and off-the-path excursions and also create longer itinerant programs for small groups (up to 8 people) with accommodations, activities and of course transportation solutions.
I love my family, I am fond of traditional and modern Music, love arts and reading and hope that I'll be able to share my many interests with you and to convince you that Corsica is definitely the unique "Island of Beauty".
(* Hello everyone, be welcome on my page!)
A Recent Review of this guide
We booked our tour with Francois for June 20, 2019. Our cruise line changed the port and departure time twice, and Francois was pretty flexible. Our stay was shorten in Corsica, so we did have to eliminate some of the sites we had requested to see. The highlight of our tour was the boat tour of the cliffs and caves of Bonifacio. Francois is very knowledgeable and his love for his island is very evident. If I'm ever in Corsica again, I would hire Francois again!!
