A short exploration regarding ancient drama

We will visit the canal of Corinth, a engineering miracle of the 19th century, that is our first short photo and rest stop. Then we will visit the ancient theatre of Epidauros , which is considered the most well preserved 5th cent BC theatre in Greece. It is reused for the famous theatrical summer festival, ancient plays, in modern greek language! You ll see it all still there, there is no closer experience to ancient drama than watching a play seated where 2500 ago ancients Greeks would sit. You will feel the supreme acoustics of this 12. 000 seat stone theatre. The small museum is also interesting, since you can understand the purpose of this theatre situated nowhere near a city or town. The healing sanctuary of Asclepios makes it all clear. The patients in the ancient era would have to stay for 2 weeks under the supervision of the priests-doctors, so they needed entertainment!

Itinerary

The canal of Corinth is the link between the Aegean and the Ionean sea, since the 19th century you can save up to 420 miles of journey by using it!We shall have a photo stop right in the middle of its 4 miles length, standing on a bridge!

The next stop is the marvelous theatre of Epidaurus, with its ingretable acoustics and its almost intact condition! You will experience the theatre from the actors and spectators point of view, you may also perform a small act or song if you wish!
