Explore the deliciously unique flavors of this culinary capital with a private guide
Join a fellow foodie for a culinary journey through the heart of Copenhagen and get a delicious taste of Denmark. From its traditional roots, the culinary scene in this small country has evolved into a world-renowned cuisine with 18 Michelin stars in Copenhagen alone! On this tasty tour, we will visit some of the best places in the city to experience the more traditional Danish flavors, while learning about food culture past and present and exploring its connection to hygge - that enviable Danish coziness.
Along the way, you will enjoy the original Danish pastry, sample traditional sweets, discover the unique Danish hot dog, and savor local cheeses. Our final stop will be the fabulous Torvehallerne Market, where we will explore local stalls and products before trying some for ourselves: experience the revered smørrebrød open-faced sandwich accompanied by a tasting of locally made juice in unique flavors, and top it all off with a delicious chocolate treat.
We will begin with a traditional Danish pastry and a coffee at a local bakery, as I introduce you to Copenhagen's culinary scene from traditional to New Nordic, and our itinerary for the tasty tour ahead.
We will then set off on our culinary adventure and experience the following:
The food market at the posh Magasin du Nord department store, including a visit to the confectionery stalls to learn about and sample traditional treats like caramels, bolcher (hard candies), and licorice.
A historic cheese shop to savour some of Denmark's own cheeses.
One of Denmark's favorite traditions - the pølsevogn - for a classic hot dog with a modern Nordic twist (veggie dog is available).
Torvehallerne Market, Copenhagen's foodie haven, where you will be introduced to some of the local vendors and products. Here we will try a smørrebrød open-faced sandwich while enjoying a tasting of juices in unique local flavours, and a traditional treat from a local chocolate maker.
