5 hour walk thru Copenhagen's Jewish History with licensed private guide
This walking tour comes through historic Copenhagen with a special focus on Jewish life in Denmark, a story that goes back to the 16 century - the first wave fleeing the Spanish Inquisition. the second wave from Russian pogroms. Another theme is the German occupation of World War II, where the Jewish saga culminates in the escape by boat of the Jewish population of Denmark to neutral Sweden.
A visit to the Mitzvah museum - designed by Daniel Libeskind - is included in the program. NOTE: MUSEUM IS CLOSED ON MONDAYS!
On the walk you pass:
Mermaid Statue, Citadel fortress, Gefion Fountain, Churchill Park, WWII memorials. Opera House, Amalienborg Royal Residence, Nyhavn Canal, Kings New Square, Rosenborg Castle, Round Tower, Jewish Synagogue, Old and New Squares, Stock Exchange, Christiansborg Palace. Library Garden, Mizvah museum.
Meeting Location + Tour Duration
Meeting location: I will meet you at your hotel or cruise ship. Please note that ships docking at Ocean Kaj are 3 kilometers from city so budget extra time to return before sailing departure.
End location: You can choose to be brought back to your hotel or ship, remain in town for shopping, or at the entrance to a castle or museum. Our city is small so it is not difficult to return on your own.
Duration: 5 hours
We walk. Busses are used to get to/from Ocean Kaj which is 3 miles from City tour start. Public transportation is used on return where appropriate.
