Let's explore this art paradise together!
Comalapa is a peaceful and beautiful Maya-Kaqchikel village, just 1 1/2 hour away from Antigua Guatemala. Feel touched by the Cemetary's wall paintings depicting the horror people lived during the Civil War, proving their status as pioneers of Naive Art in Guatemala, therefore the main experience is participating into a painting workshop where you yourself choose the artist you want to paint with (I'll suggest 2-3 I personally admire).
Art continues in our schedule visiting the house of a weaving woman while she demonstrates usage of the pedal loom weaving. Tasting Comalapa is important too, here grows the best country's red and big strawberries due to mild climate and fertile soil.
And as Comalapa is also brithplace of a musical tradition featuring Rafael Alvarez Ovalle, composer of the national anthem music and several others, I'll take you to the community school of music where young people build their future on this art.
A true local experience in an off the beaten path destination awaits for you!
