A general overview and the world famous Cologne Cathedral (UNESCO World Heritage Site)
During this general overview you will get to know the cathedral (from the inside) and you will discover some Roman remains and the historic town hall area. We will walk along the former Jewish quarter and the old market square. A stroll along the river promenade of the Rhine and through the cobblestoned lanes of the medieval quarter will give you an idea of Cologne's rich history.
The interior of the cathedral is truely awe-inspiring. It took more than 600 years to build. It has the largest church façade in the world, 10 000 sq. meters of stained glass windows, and houses the famous golden shrine of the Three Wise Men.
Please, contact me before making the reservation. I will check availability with the church authorities first, and then will get back to you.
On these 2 hour walking tours we usually spend a good hour walking around the Cathedral area and the Old Town, then we spend 45 min inside (cathedral). Depending on the weather and your preferences - I can easily adapt to your preferences. Please mind, for Cologne Cathedral an advance reservation with time slot is required.
On days where no Cathedral guiding license is available (religious services, holidays, allotment full) detailed explanation will be given from the outside and guests can go inside on their own later. Therefore, please contact me before making the reservation. I will check with the church authorities whether an interior visit will be possible or not.
