Private guided tour visiting salento and the wonderful wax palm.
Salento is a colorful colonial market town in the Coffee Zone; it has a lively environment, excellently conserved architecture and great restaurants serving up a multitude of dishes incorporating the local trout. Being the entrance of the Valle del Cocora makes it an extremely popular small town.
Cocora Valley, just 11 kms from Salento, is a majestic valley and the perfect place to "lose yourself" for a few hours. The valley is home to the wax palm, the Colombian national tree and the worlds tallest variety of palm tree, measuring up to 62m. It is the wax palm that makes Cocora a truly special destination and brings visitors flocking to see it. The topology of Cocora offers a bunch of trekking and walking possibilities. You can have a short easy walk or a demanding hiking experience around the same location, experimenting a very nice temperature and landscape which is always new.
The tour is very flexible and offers other alternatives during the day. We start at your hotel and go to Salento.
There, we have a walk around the town, looking at its charming architecture. After that, we take a jeep Willys and go to Cocora valley. There, we have the opportunity to have a nice walk in the mountains (if you want). If not, we can admire the beautiful wax palms from a spot.
Finally, we return to the hotel.
It's possible to extend the program with a visit to Filandia (another colorful town, 30 min from Salento). You can reach me to add it to the tour.

There is not enough characters in this block for me to truly express how great this was. We had such an incredible time with Andres that we were left in awe and full of knowledge. My wife and I have been traveling through South America and have done a few tours now and by far, this has been the best! Andres was not only a great host, but his knowledge and experience with coffee and the region was worth the entire trek alone. If you are going to do Salento with a guide, Andres is the only name you need.
