a stroll around the historic town
the Roman city of Chester, a city brimming with history.
A place where we can walk the above the city streets along the City walls and "Rows". Chester has many architectural features to boast about - not only Roman but Medieval and Victorian. The cathedral is a superb British treasure with many highlights and artifacts.
This tour is easily walked there are some steps and some cobbled street so be sure to wear comfortable walking shoes.
I will meet you at your ship or hotel and proceed to Chester through the rural countryside across the River Mersey from Liverpool. We will start a 2 hour walk starting on the castle walls and end at beautiful Cathedral part of which was an abbey in the 1200's. We will investigate some of the excavated Roman ruins, and I will tell you about some of the marvellous pieces of history surrounding this lovely town. At the end of the walk we will have some refreshment in the shopping area where I know you will want to browse and enjoy the Rows and shopping arcade. Chester's Rows are shops above ground which originated during the medieval period - they are very special and a wonderful way to get around especially if it rains!)
We will then make our way back to to your ship or hotel.

Pauline arranged for a tour team. We traveled around Liverpool, taking in the sights and then into Chester where we walked the ancient streets, sampling food, shopping, marveling at its history and ending up in a tour of a glorious church. Pauline was a font of information. We lunched in a wonderful tavern outside Chester on our way to the Royal Liverpool Golf Course where we enjoyed its history. We traveled the countryside with Pauline's continuous dialog. A truly unforgettable day. An A+ rating!
