Follow in the Footsteps of History and Walk the 400 year Walls of Derry
Starting and finishing in Shipquay Place, we walk a full circuit "on and around the Walls" in a clockwise direction. The tour covers an approximate distance of 1 mile (1. 5km) and includes a detailed history of the history of the City from its origins to the modern day.
At end of tour I can offer discounted access to Tower Museum and their permanent exhibitions for my tour customers.
Start Point - centre of Shipquay Place
Brief visit to Guildhall if accessible.
Full Circuit of the City Walls in a clockwise direction, entering from Magazine Gate, with stops at important locations. Initial part of the Tour will be on the Walls with regular stops for historical explanations.
Leave Walls at Artillery Street, with brief visit to the Playhouse and photo opportunity at St Columb's Cathedral Gates.
There is an opportunity for a refreshment break at this point of the tour.
Enter the Fountain at New Gate and walk around the Walls to Bishops Street.
Photo Opportunity near Bishops Gate, then go back onto the Walls at this point with longer stop for historical explanations.
Arrive at Double Bastion with further photo opportunities of city landscape.
Walk along West Wall with stops at important locations.
Arrive back in Shipquay Place
