From DuSable's House to the White House
Come with me as we explore the social, artistic, business, and political past of the African-American experience in Chicago. From Johnson Publishing to Harpo Studio, and from Maxwell Street to the Stroll, we'll investigate the who, what, when, where, how, and why of Black Chicago.
Available as an all-day tour.
We will circle through the downtown area and its near South Side, taking in sights like Johnson Publishing, Harpo Studios, Chess Records, and the DuSable Museum.
Meeting Location + Tour Duration
Meeting location: I'd prefer to meet you in Chicago's Loop, but we can work out a pick up/drop off site.
End location: I'll get you back to where you need to go. We'll work it out.
Duration: 2 hours
Personal car. If you have a group larger than four, I can meet your vehicle and give the tour while you drive.
Parking and fees if we stop for a walking portion of the tour. If we decide to head to the DuSable Museum, we'll need to talk about their admission fee.
Estimated Local Cash Needed
20 USD - If you're in need of a beverage while we're out, or if you want to stop for souvenirs, please plan accordingly.
Anything you wish to purchase beyond my costs.
Though my focus is primarily with small groups, I can accommodate larger groups. If you are interested in booking for a larger group, I can meet you and guide you in your vehicle.

Clarence was an excellent guide. We would rate him a 5 out of 5. He is very knowledgeable of Chicago history and shared that knowledge with us. My family enjoyed him tremendously. If we are in the area again and need your services we would certainly want Clarence to assist us.
