A fascinating exploration of the close connection between Florence and Italian fashion through the ages
Florence has been one of the most important fashion centers in Italy since Florentine noble women dictated couture elegance to royal courts throughout Europe. The tour includes the fabulous Ferragamo Museum of shoes but will begin at the Palazzo Pitti's wonderful Costume and Fashion Museum, where an expanded selection of splendid clothing, shoes and accessories illustrating the transience and caprices of fashion through the centuries is currently on display in a limited engagement exhibition. The fascinatingly titled "Ephemeral Museum of Fashion" is truly ephemeral: it runs only until October so come to see it while you can!
Upon request and subject to availability, an exclusive version of this tour is available that includes a visit to the Antico Setificio Fiorentino, a silk factory that operates as it did when it first opened in the 18th Century, using its original looms to produce sumptuous fabrics that are still prized throughout the world. Please see the "What's Extra" section for more info & pricing.
Tour will begin at Palazzo Pitti after which we will cross the Ponte Vecchio to visit the Museo Salvatore Ferragamo, where the tour will end.
