A spectacular Mayan ceremonial center in the heart of the Yucatan peninsula.
Ek Balam is one of the last archaeological sites discovered in the Yucatan Peninsula and is perhaps one of the most important Mayan ruins ever found.
It is composed of several temples, two enormous palaces and a great pyramid in the center of the city. There are historical sources that suggest that it was an important center of the region during the Postclassic period.
After, we will have a chance to swim at Cenote Saamal, an amazing cenote where you can have fun jumping into its refreshing waters. Later, a delicious regional buffet will be waiting to delight us with incredible flavors.
Our last stop is Valladolid, is now known as "The Capital of the Maya East", where two great passages of the history of Mexico happened: "The War of Castes" in 1847 and "The first spark of the Mexican Revolution" in 1910. It has a great architectural beauty in its ancestral colonial buildings such as the San Bernardino Convent of Siena, the Municipal Palace, the Church of San Servacio and other important monuments.

Miguel is a true intellectual, educator, Mexico-expert, and friend. He is a safe driver and as a great vehicle. We loved talking with him during the car ride almost as much as we loved the actual tour. He is so knowledgeable! I would recommend him for ANY tour and can guarantee it will be an amazing experience. We LOVED our private tour and everyone in my family agreed it was the highlight of our trip.
