visit one of the prettiest towns in England

With its 31 colleges the city of Cambridge is one of the oldest universities in the world and one of the top. The town centres around the university so it has a real feel of an academic centre in a way Oxford doesn't. Its colleges are in a variety of different styles but the most impressive is Kings College with its chapel that is often regarded as one of the finest buildings in Europe with stain glass from the 16th century. its ceiling is a real sight to behold. There are many lovely places to have lunch and you can also do 'punting' on the river Cam - a sort of gondola. apart from visiting Kings we can also visit Queens' College, Downing college, Emmanuel college (Darwin, s college), Sidney Sussex college (Cromwell, s college) or Trinity's college (Isaac Newton, s college) depending on which is open that day. It's less than one hour to get to by train

We'll meet at your hotel and make our way to king's cross station to take the 1hr train to Cambridge. From the week wall around the lovely university town and visit whatever colleges are open (many are) and of course visit kings college with the outstanding chapel called one of Europe, s must beautiful buildings. We'll have a short break for lunch and continue with our walking tour to the river and see the famous Isaac Newton bridge and all being well will return to your hotel by late afternoon

A Recent Review of this tour

A wonderful day with a very experienced and courteous guide. When informed of my interest in old books, I was taken to book shops in Cambridge and to the London library when we arrived back in London at the end of the day. That ' extra mile' often rare and much appreciated.I would highly recommend Edward as a guide.
