My thirst for knowledge is free to find out an amazing amount of things, all in the name of my work. A tour may be about wine tasting but it has to include a taster on history, as how else am I to explain why there are more than 4000 vignerons in Burgundy - it's all down to Napoleon of course! A historical tour of chateaux would include a commentary on modern schooling and family life because it all relates to how France is run today!
I first worked in Burgundy in 1989 and although I have lived and worked in many other places in France and Europe since, I kept being drawn back here. Of course it was very handy that my brother had his home in Auxerre and I spent many years as his long term house guest. At the beginning of the Millennium I returned to work in the region as tour director on a luxury hotel barge and by 2006 I made Burgundy my permanent home along with my young family.
As a mum I found myself a great position working in a prestigious wine cellar on the Cote de Nuits. During this time I was able to deepen my knowledge of wine including attending several trade courses at the Ecole des Vins in Beaune.
All the tours I provide are private and there are not any standard tours, all are personalised for the guests' particular needs and priced accordingly. I can however provide suggestions depending on the number of guests, their requests and the budget.
As a permanent resident of France, I am fluent in French but have the advantage that English speaking visitors feel more at ease with someone who speaks their own mother tongue. My residency and family life here enables me to provide the guests with 'insider' knowledge as I am aware of the subtle differences between France and other countries such as the United Kingdom and the United States.
For the majority of tours I provide transport in my modern comfortable car which is registered with the French Tourist Board. This is now compulsory in France, along with full taxi insurance and a 'Carte Professionelle'. This is a professional drivers licence proving my competence to chauffeur tourists, speak more than one language and hold a First Aid certificate.
I look forward to hearing from you soon.
