Along the road leading from Padua to Venice - paralleling what is considered to be an extension of the Grand Canal - runs the beautiful Brenta River, the area preferred by Venetian aristocratic families to build their summer residential homes. Villa Pisani is one of Italy's most beautiful villas. The vast park still preserves an intact labyrinth where tourists often amuse themselves among its hedges. Finally, we visit Villa Foscari Malcontenta, a Palladian masterpiece that celebrates the powerful Venetian Foscari family, who proudly remain the owners of the villa to this day, a place where time seems to stand still.

This is a very specializes tour, as it focuses on a fairly narrow segment of the region's history. If you are interested in the Palladian villas, and the Venetian villas, you will really enjoy this. Ruben took us to see three villas, each very different from the other. He does a very nice job of putting each in its historical context.
