Whether you're an architect, engineer or just enjoy seeing interesting buildings, this is the perfect tour for you. We'll explore Boston from its early beginnings to today. You not only get to see the buildings their significance, but you'll get the stories behind their history.

We tour the Downtown Area from a whole new prospective: Its interesting, historic and even provocative architecture. This two hour tour is sure to please your intellectual side as well as your eyes. We will explore Boston from Faneuil Hall to Beacon Hill.

Highlights include:

• Boston's most interesting 18th, 19th and even 20th century buildings
• The quirky layout of streets and the land itself - and how it got that way!
• Boston's oldest Commercial Building (from 1714)
• The first Domed Building in North America
• Boston's First Skyscraper
• Early examples of Cast-Iron Facades
• The world's second tallest masonry building
• One of the first steel-framed buildings in the country
• Early Examples of Set-Backs and Historic Facades

Itinerary

We tour the Downtown Area from a whole new prospective: Its interesting, historic and even provocative architecture. This two hour tour is sure to please your intellectual side as well as your eyes. We will explore Boston from Faneuil Hall to Beacon Hill.

You also have the option of expanding the tour to three hours, which will give you the additional following sites:

• The World's Biggest (and most beautiful) intact area of Federal Style Architecture
• The mansions and homes of Boston's Aristocracy in the past and today
• Boston's tallest structure - and the window disaster that occurred in its early years
• The "Ground Zero" example of Richardson Romanesque Architecture
• How we almost lost Trinity Church in the 1970's
• The first Public Library in the U. S.

Meeting Location + Tour Duration

Meeting location: The Sam Adams Statue in front of Faneuil Hall on Congress Street (at the corner of North Street). This meeting location can be changed.

End location: At the "New" State House overlooking Boston Common. However, this ending point can be adapted for your particular needs as well.

Duration: 2 hours

You have the option to expand this tour to 3 hours by extending our walk to additional areas and their architecture. Tour times are approximate.
