Let a local show you the best spots in town!!
Let's visit some of France's most beautiful squares and architectural wonders on permanent display in a modern city filled with medieval and even Gallo Roman structures.
During out time together I will take you along the Garonne river to show you a controversial bridge commissioned by Napoleon. I will tell you all about Bordeaux's Nazi occupation as well as a Viking invasion in the 10th century. I will explain to you why Bordeaux is nicknamed the 'Dark Capital' and also 'Sleeping Beauty'.
Now on to Europe's largest square with gorgeous fountains, statues and plenty of activity. I will show you the grand Bordeaux theater, two Renaissance towers and a breathtaking cathedral where a historical marriage took place in 1137. And of course no tour would be complete without coffee and a croissant at a sidewalk cafes!
I look forward to sharing this beautiful city with you as well as giving you a look into the modern French way of life.
After we meet I will lay out the day for you and make sure you are comfortable with the itinerary. We will cover quite a lot of ground; so based on the weather and your mood, we can walk, take the tram or a combination of the two. We will see several monuments and historical areas of Bordeaux and the advantage of a private tour is that if we pass by a shop that interests you, then we can always stop in and resume the tour after you have had a look. If the tour falls during the lunch hour (and I hope it does because that is part of the French experience) then I will take you to one of the local lunch spots.
Meeting Location + Tour Duration
Meeting location: I will pick you up at your Bordeaux hotel or cruise ship if it is in the Bordeaux Port. If you are staying outside of Bordeaux, I can suggest a meeting place in the city.
End location: I will drop you off at your hotel or ship.
Duration: 4 hours
We will walk or take the city's new tramway based on weather and your preferences.
Estimated Local Cash Needed
10 euros - Everywhere we go will accept credit cards, but there is occasionally a 10€ minimum so it's always a good idea to have a little cash on hand for a bottle of water, post card, etc.
I do not go to La Rochelle or Verdon-sur-Mer to pick up cruise shop passengers because these locations are 2 hours from Bordeaux.
