The Golden wines
Just less than 1 hour drive from Bordeaux the small and highly renowned Sauternes Vineyard covers the south-east end of the Graves, a region near Langon where the confluence of the Ciron and Garonne rivers creates a mild micro-climate.
The golden Sauternes wines became famous during the 18th century when the understanding and utilization of the Noble Rot was accepted as a wine producing peculiarity.
In the morning, visit and wine tasting at 2 of famous Chateaux first growth Grand Cru Classe 1855.
In the afternoon, visit the medieval Roquetaillade castle, privately owned by the Roquetaillade family who have been resident here since 1306! As well as the castle being classified as a historical monument there is also a working farm on the land alongside an A. O. C. Graves vineyard that produces a variety of wines.
