The Stories of Wellington's Original Settlers with a private guide
Take a walk through the Bolton St Cemetery and learn the history of Wellington through the stories of the city's founding fathers and original settlers who were buried here.
We will meet at 9:00 (for a morning tour) or 1:00 (for an afternoon tour) at your cruise ship or at the Wellington Railway Station, and firstly walk over to Parliament grounds for an overview.
From Parliament we will then head up Bowen St to the lower Cemetery entrance. We will visit the Chapel (now the Cemetery Information Centre) and, in the Lower part of the Cemetery, we will learn the stories of some of the politicians, families and unfortunates commemorated there.
In the Upper part of the Cemetery we will visit the markers of some more of Wellington's original settlers, business men and politicians, working our way up to the Richard Seddon monument.
We will then make our way back down to the corner of Bowen St and Lambton Quay, where the Tour will finish.
