A Bolivian Altiplano Tour from La Paz, Sajama National Park, to Uyuni Salt Dessert

Discover the deep Altiplano of Bolivia!

This is an alternative tour where you will have the chance to visit many cultural and natural hidden spots by an alternative route that starts in La Paz on a 4WD. The tour is perfect for taking pictures due to the many landscapes we visit and also for learning about the Aymara and Quechua ethnic groups, the two biggest nations we have in Bolivia.

The tour lasts 4 days, starting from La Paz, having an overnight at National Park Sajama where we find the highest peak of Bolivia (6. 540 m), many fauna and flora to see, visiting lots of places and indigenous communities, driving through the deep and remote Altiplano of Bolivia to finally end at the biggest salt flats in the world!

Itinerary

Day 1
We start the day driving from La Paz to the National Park Sajama for about 6 hours, enjoying the views and aymara funerary towers of the north altiplano. We will enjoy a lunch cooked by the locals in Sajama, and then we drive around to see the beautiful fauna and flora of the park. Dinner at night.

Day 2
After breakfast we drive south and will enjoy the remote areas of the altiplano like sand dunes and lagoons and get to see and take pictures of the hidden fauna of the area. Picnic and we keep driving until we get to the accommodation at 17:00. Dinner at night and an optional wood fire!

Day 3
We keep driving south and cross the Coipasa salt flat, the second biggest salt flat in Bolivia until we get to a special ancient archeological site to have a hike, lunch and then arrive to the shores of uyuni salt flats!

Day 4
It's time to know the salt flats! hike to a volcano, visit Incahuasi, lunch, have the perspective pictures session at the salt flats, until 17:00 when we finish the tour at Uyuni.
