Visit the understated volcanic peninsula Reykjanes and the world famous Blue lagoon
This option includes a visit to the Blue lagoon, Iceland's most popular tourist attraction and an introduction to Iceland's geology through the spectacular lava fields of the South Coast.
Leave Reykjavík for the official residence of the President of Iceland, then through the "Town in the lava" before joining the South coast road to see a geothermal area, crater lake and 800 year old lavafield.
We then drive to the town of Grindavik and look at the harbor and the old part of the town. Afterwards we make a stop long enough to take a themal bath in the Blue lagoon for about two hours.
Then we follow the South coast road to the Reykjanes Peninsula lighthouse, lavafields and geothermal powerstation before making a stop at the Bridge between two continents. A symbolic bridge between the American continent and the Europe Asia continent.
Afterwards we make a stop at the Viking ship Íslendingur and Smitsonian Institute Viking exhibition. Íslendingur is the name of the Viking Ship replica which sailed from Iceland to Greenland - and from Greenland to Canada - and New York in the US in 2000. The journey was made to commemorate the one thousand year anniversary of Christianity in Iceland.
