COVID-19 UPDATE 1) My primary job is to keep my guests as safe as possible.

My husband John (also a ToursByLocals guide) and I are very careful in our daily lives. We constantly monitor each others health and we both check our temperatures before each tour.

2) We have installed protective, see-through barriers in our vehicles between the guests and the guide.

3) The vehicles are disinfected before and after each tour. The vehicles are used for tours only, no one else is allowed to use the vehicles for any reason.

4) We practice social distancing on tours and in our everyday lives. I will be wearing a mask and will ask you to do the same. If you do not have masks they will be provided.

I was born and raised in the heart of the Black Hills. My family owned and operated a very highly regarded tourist attraction, and I have worked in the tourism industry for 45 years. My parents, a couple of farm kids from Iowa, arrived in the Hills in 1950. They lived the American Dream by taking a "hole in the ground" and turning it in to a well known attraction, Beautiful Rushmore Cave. I have been surrounded by hard working, fun loving people my whole life. We have prided ourselves in showing visitors the wonders of the Black Hills and sharing the stories of how it all happened. I grew up with Mt. Rushmore in my back yard and it still takes my breath away every time I see it.
Along the way I attended college in Colorado and graduated from the University of Hawaii with a degree in Zoology. While attending UH I met my husband and business partner John, we have been married for 33 years and have 3 great children. We are currently working together in the Hills providing custom and private tours to visitors from around the world. During the winter season we love to travel and increase our knowledge of the world around us.
The beautiful Black Hills and Badlands area is full of everything from awe inspiring Monuments and landscapes to free roaming Bison and brightly colored wild flowers. The geology of the area is unsurpassed for its natural beauty and complexity. The stories of the Indian wars, mining era and the birth of tourism in the area are many and filled with adventure. I would love to share the stories and beauty of the area with you.
I will work with your dream list to deliver the traditional tours such as Mount Rushmore National Memorial, Crazy Horse Mountain and Custer State Park with its Bison herds and scenic drives and unique tours such as Sunset and Stargazing Tours of the Badlands National Park. I also offer a daytime tour of the Badlands including a stop at the American Roadside Attraction, Wall Drug. Because your tour is a private tour we can add or subtract stops as time allows.

Cynthia was a lovely guide, the tour was pretty amazing because of her! She showed and explained everything about the park. So many beautiful pictures. And we found the bisons! Mount Rushmore, it was a pleasure to meet you!
