An introduction to the city of Stavanger with its most important highlights
This tour around Stavanger is an excellent way to get a good overview over the area. We will go by a private minivan and there will be 3 stops during the drive. The tour starts from the pier right in the heart of the city. We will then drive through one of the older city parts with exclusive houses.
Our first stop will take you back to the Viking Age and their battles. The battle of Hafrsfjord in 872 was the one that united Norway into one kingdom.
A short drive further along the sea will take you to the highest point in Stavanger with a great view 360 degrees. The scenery opens up with fjords and mountains surrounding us.
On the way back to the city center you will learn more about daily life here now.
In the city center we will visit our medieval Cathedral made of stone and learn the history of the religious role for Stavanger and Norway. We will round off the day by a nice walk through our picturesque Old Town with cobblestone streets and small sweet wooden houses.
We start at the pier in the city center and drive through differnet city parts on our way to the first stop - Swords in Rock. After a few minutes drive we arrive at the next stop - the viewpoint Ullandhaugtårnet. Then we turn back to the city center for a visit in the medieval Cathedral and at the end a walk in the Old Town.
