Of this I've become certain over the past six years, living and working as a tour guide, a teacher, and a student in this city I'm so blessed to call my home. In my five years here as a bike and walking tour guide, it has been my goal to help visitors acknowledge and make the best use of this opportunity.
Education has always been the center of my life. In 2009, I received an Honors B. A. from Bard College in New York, with a thesis on French poetry during the Franco-Prussian War. Along with my work as a guide, I have also worked for over five years as a teacher and administrator here in Berlin at a language school, all the while completing an M. A. in History at Freies Universität Berlin. My work as a guide, in fact, has not just developed alongside these academic endeavors, but it part of them: while tours are understood by many to be within the industry of tourism, my tours in, in both essence and function, are first and foremost educational.
Countless visitors have achieved a more profound knowledge of the world, and of themselves, through the tours that I've developed, and the conversations within them that I work to facilitate. Nothing makes me prouder, and I wholeheartedly invite you to come along!
A Recent Review of this guide
I can't recommend Timothy's tour highly enough! This is a terrific way to get off the "beaten path" and see many sights that tourists usually pass by, but also those that should t be missed. Timothy's command of history and culture is impressive a, and he moves along at a clip that keeps you very engaged. We brought our kids, who are 11, and had a blast. Wonderful experience!!
