Whatever you're looking for and wherever you want to go, I'll take you there!
I was born in Sweden 40 years ago and coming from an international seafaring family I soon started travelling. I basically worked and studied my way across the world before meeting a Basque girl and settling down here in beautiful San Sebastián some 15 years ago and like to think of myself as a citizen of the world.
Now I operate as a professional tour guide and freelance journalist out of San Sebastián, or Donostia as we say here. I like to think that home is where the heart is and the Basque Country really conquered mine. It's a pretty unique place that combines wonderful nature with interesting history and ground breaking gastronomy. And you know what the best part is? It's really accessible, you just need the right guide and you're on your way.
When I first came here I set out to discover every little corner of this gastronomic and scenic heaven with the passion and frenzy of a star struck lover. I've worked in restaurants, organized tours for language schools, written about the Basque Country, hiked up every little mountain, surfed every beach and visited every little village. After many years of learning from the best in every field and making great friends and contacts along the way, I'm proud and eager to share my knowledge and passion with visitors.
Passionate, flexible and knowledgeable, that's me in a nutshell. I'm just as happy showing you around on a little historic walk as going to a cider tasting or taking you hiking in the mountains.
I give my tours in English, Spanish or Scandinavian. And I speak english not spanglish!
A Recent Review of this guide
Jakob, our tour guide in Bilbao, Spain, and surrounding Basque countryside, provided us with a most pleasant day. He was articulate; knowledgeable about the culture, history, and points of interest. He set a pace based upon our interests. We had a memorable day, and would wholeheartedly recommend Jakob to anyone traveling in this area.
