Markets tour - a trip into local food culture with a private guide
In Barcelona, all neighborhoods have their food market. We love buying fresh food in markets. We can see piles of fruits, vegetables; meat, fresh fish and seafood directly from the fish market, a cornucopia of colors and textures.
We'll visit two markets: the Boqueria market, the most popular one in the Rambla and Santa Caterina, recently restored.
We might enjoy some tapas on the way if you wish so.
Do you know the origin of tapas? Let me you explain
We will combine Food Culture with Local History.
Since the markets we are visiting are located in Old Town, we will enjoy a pleasant stroll along the Roman and Medieval area with quite a few hidden and charming streets and squares.
This tour is not available on Sunday, Bank holidays or the month of August as the Boqueria Market and many stores are closed.
Another aspect: On Monday, markets in general, are not so great since many spots are closed.

It's an interesting and enjoyable tour with the colorful sights and sounds of the market mixed with the ambience of the old world, the quiet and elegance of roman and medieval architecture. Gloria is an excellent guide in retelling the history.
