Thus, I successfully passed my Diploma in Tourism and my Master Degree in Art History.
Meanwhile, I travelled aplenty in various continents, while building my professional experience in Dublin.
Back to 2008, I discovered Barcelona and became so infatuated with the place I therefore decided to move to Spain.
Yet, my career path steered me away from my field of studies. For over 15 years I climbed the ladder of the corporate world as a People Manager in various international companies.
Despite my professional success, I had a nagging feeling that something was missing nonetheless.
This all began when I fell in love with Catalonia. More precisely, with the Penedès wine region.
For years, I used to live in Sitges , a beach resort on the outskirts of Barcelona and at the edge of the wine country.
This place is a blessing for nature lovers: the variety of sceneries encompasses sunny seaside, Mediterranean country landscape, spectacular mountain views and flora brimming forest.
More importantly, Penedès is famous for precursing wine making in Europe and maintaining this tradition for an impressive 2, 700 year period.
While scouring the place, I also became increasingly attached to its people. I befriended lovely local wine producers who enthusiastically shared stories about their rich cultural heritage. As it turns out, they converted me from Champagne to Cava and from Burgondy to Xarello wines, putting me on the "most wanted" list in my native country.
The sheer authenticity of this whole experience truly resonated with me: I knew I wanted to showcase my region of adoption.
Following this realization, I quitted my office job, along with a guaranteed pay check, and obtained the travel agent certification issued by the Catalonian government. I decided to create the kind tours I look for when I travel. Relaxed and authentic. As opposed to standard group tours, I really focus on offering a real local experience to my guests. In the few years that I have been doing it, many guests have commented that a tour with "David is like going wine tasting with a friend". This feedback makes me very proud.
Going on a tour with me you can expect to hear local stories. You will meet great passionate locals who are always happy to share their local knowledge and wine. You will also get some insight of the long history of Catalonia. I will never want you to be bored so I will make sure you are having a lot of fun. I have designed my tours to feel seamless while you discover the real heart of Catalonia, away from the main attractions.
So if you are looking for an authentic experience while having a good laugh, I am the guide you need!"
A Recent Review of this guide
Our day with David was simply the best. The early morning Montserrat sunrise was amazing and worth the early pickup. We found David knowledgeable, interesting and very entertaining. As for the visit to the goat farm, it was incredible. Goats, baby goats, dogs, and a puppy = pure joy for our kids! And we can't forget the delicious farmer's brunch and cheeses/wines with our host Daniel. Our day with David was simply the best day of our vacation to Spain. Thanks, David for making our day so memorable!
