Derawan Island is located in, Berau Regency, East Kalimantan. There are at least four famous islands in this Archipelago, which is Pulau Maratua, Derawan, Sangalaki, and Kakaban. . Derawan chain contains Indonesia's largest nesting site for endangered green sea turtles, which emerge from the sea every night to lay their eggs on the white sand beaches of Sangalaki and Derawan Islands. Another island in the chain, Semama, is an important bird sanctuary, and Kakaban Island contains the world's largest and most diverse jellyfish lake, with four unique species of stingless jellyfiish. Kakaban is being considered for nomination as a UNESCO World Heritage Site. The types of coral reefs consist of reef edge, barrier reefs and atolls.
Day 01: BERAU, DERAWAN ISLAND (BLD)
Upon arrival at Berau, transfer to harbor to boarding a boat and cross the Sulawesi Sea to Derawan Island. Check in at Vila. Lunch, afternoon possibility for snorkeling at Derawan village sightseeing. At night we could explore the Turtle bay.
Day 02: DERAWAN ISLAND, KAKABAN, SANGALAKI ISLAND (BLD)
Early in the morning by fishermen's boat to Kakaban island or sweat water lake, then to Sangalaki Island which is called the Capital of The Mantas Rays, many kinds of exotic fish could be seen in this area like the Mantas, Napoleons, purple sea horses, tunicates, dwarf scorpion fishes, and not to forget the Coral Sea Garden which is still intact.
Day 03: DERAWAN, BERAU, BALIKPAPAN (B)
After breakfast start our trip cross the sea by boat to Berau for the return flight to Balikpapan, from where you can connect for your next destination
