Get a taste of history by sampling a variety of wine and food as we make our way around Venice's ancient alleyways.
In Venice the the real culinary heart is in the wine bars and bàcari. Don't spoil your visit to Venice by eating in over-priced tourist restaurants - come with me and will follow the locals' lead and graze on bar snacks in backstreet osterie.
A bar crawl, or giro di ombre, is the best way to try Venice's bacari, popping into each for a cicheto and accompanying ombra (small glass of wine). Please enquire if more than 6 passengers.
We will start with one in Campo Santa Margherita called 'La Bifora'. This is a butcher turned bar serves excellent wines from the Conegliano's area. There is an eclectic mix of all ages enjoying this rustic osteria.
Will keep on going to my next favourite, Cantinone - già Schiavi. This family run bàcaro, located across from a gondola workshop, with more than 30 wines available by the glass, and much more. Crowded with venetians in the evening!
Next stop will take us in about 15 min walk toward Rialto crossing some very interesting areas and reaching 'Do Mori'. Myth has it that Casanova frequented this bàcaro. Even if he didn't, it's still thought to be the oldest in Venice, dating back to 1462. We will have a glass of thier wine and a 'fracobollo' (postage stamp) a tiny sandwich, the house special!
From here to the Do Spade, another bàcaro dating back to the 15th century. Lots of seafood to offer and type of cheeses.
At this point I will walk you back to a previously agreed place.

I wish there was a 10 for this rating! We had so much fun touring the districts, eating yummy traditional bites along the way, drinking good wine, and enjoying the best company! Thank you for a fabulous night in Venice, away from all the tourists, and your suggestions for the rest of our stay in Venice. Fantastic.
