Experience the golden and dark times of the Weimarer Republic
No other decade of the 20th century is surrounded by more legends, stories, and changes than the 1920s in Berlin - not only since the tv series Babylon Berlin ensnared the viewers. Already the movie Cabaret with Liza Minelli in her starring role as Sally Bowles was a peak into one of the most enchanting and terrifying days of Berlin.
After the loss of WWI many Germans came to the city to party away their loss of hope in the future and to forget about life in a drugged up haze. Marlene Dietrich, Anita Berber and Josephine Baker made Berlin the centre of the glamour world.
Still the bright lights of the night clubs, cabaret shows and theatres could not blend over the catastrophic economical changes with the country tumbling into hyperinflation and mass unemployment which consequently led to the rise of the Nazi empire.
Let us take a walk to the places where the party nights unfolded, the theatre art took stage and politics started to shape the future of the world.
