Visiting the city of Avignon
We'll walk to the most picturesque and typical narrow streets and views in Avignon only known by the locals. There shall be a lot of walking as most old historical streets are narrow, made of cobblestone and only accessible to pedestrians. Here most of the monuments date from the Middle-ages and were built during the reign of the different popes that lived in the Palais. You'll be going inside the Palace and walking on the Bridge (13. 50 euros admission per person for both monuments). Big parts of the inner city have kept their medieval spirit so don't forget your camera!
You shall start the city tour ideally around 9am and will go round : Pont d'Avignon, Palais des Papes, churches and many picturesque spots.

Sophie is a knowledgeable guide who provided a thorough picture of Avignon in our half day tour. Whether it was illuminating the history of the papal residents, or demystifying the origin of the nursery rhyme about Pont d'Avignon, Sophie pleasantly shared the rich history, geography, architecture and culture of the city. She introduced us to various neighborhoods, preparing us for further explorations when our tour was ended. We would highly recommend Sophie to anyone seeking to learn more about France.
