A photographers dream day in the spetacular Southwest!
Next to the Grand Canyon, Antelope Canyon is one of the most iconic canyons of the southwest. Sun light beams through the narrow canyon walls then radiates golden light throughout the salmon colored canyon, creating an incredibly unique geological environment. Antelope Canyon is attractive to photographers and sightseers because of the sculpturesque pink flowing sandstone walls. A Native American guide will accompany us through this sacred canyon. The hike is a fairly rugged and requires about one and a half hour of walking through sand, over small sandstone obstacles and several flights of stairs.
After lunch, we will visit Horseshoe Bend which has been made famous on Instagram. This natural bend in the Colorado River cuts through Wingate sandstone with views of the river over 1, 000 feet below. We will have about 45min to take in the grandeur of this spectacular geologic formation. On our way home we will pass the Vermilion Cliffs, the Painted Desert, possibly some real life cowboys and be home by dinner!
I will be waiting at our predetermined location to introduce my self and discuss our itinerary. We need to start our day a little earlier than our other tours. We have a big day ahead of us as we drive past volcanoes through the painted desert to see massive sandstone walls tower over us on our way to Antelope Canyon. Once we arrive we will be re-briefed on entry and travel through the canyon. Our Native American will lead the group through the sacred canyon. There will be many opportunities for photos and admiration. After the canyon it will be time for lunch, which is included. The tour then heads past Glen Canyon dam towards Horseshoe bend. Horseshoe bend has been made famous by Instagram and is a classic photo op on the edge of a 1, 000 foot red sandstone cliff walled "U" bend in the Colorado river. If the season is right we might catch a sunset on our way back home in the heart of the painted desert. We will be home just in time for dinner!
