Enjoy riding on trams with scenic river views and visiting Tenryuji temple/bamboo path etc.
Local Kyoto citizens have long loved this spot ever since JR local line with locomotives was obsolete and replaced by the "Sagano Romantic Train" in 1991. With 25 minutes ride on this tram from Saga/Arashiyama station to Kameoka station, you can enjoy scenic views of Hozugawa river with its beautiful canyon. Before the ride, we will stroll around historical sites at Sagano area for about 2. 5 hours, visiting Nonomiya shrine, bamboo path, Tenryuji temple, Togetsukyo bridge, and Kameyama park. The original itinerary of this tour takes about 6 hours for round trip starting at Kyoto station. It can be accommodated subject to your request and schedule, i. e. to visit Monkey park instead of Tenryuji temple. (PLease note Sagano Romantic Train will close the operation during the off season, from Dec. 30 through the end of February. Also, it is closed on most of Wednesday. You can contact me for your itinerary beforehand. )
The original plan of this tour is that it starts from 8:30 at your hotel in Kyoto and finish the tour at 14:30 at Kyoto station. Or a later start with a later return is possible too. Following is the itinerary: Your hotel (at 8:30)-Kyoto station (9:00)-JR Saga/Arashiyama (9:30)-walking to Nonomiya shrine, Bamboo path, Tenryuji temple, Togetsukyo bridge, Kameyama Park, and arrive at the tram station Arashiyama before 12:30. Having a snack lunch for 30 minutes, and riding on a tram at 13:10, we get off at Kameyama station at 13:30. Walking to JR station Umahori(0. 5 hours), we take a train for Kyoto with an arrival around 14:30.

See previous comment- we had Ken as our guide for 3 days. He's a fabulous guide and a very accommodating person. He has strong English language skills, was easy to understand and has a great sense of humor. We felt very fortunate to have been able to spend 3 tours/days with Ken
