Discover the splendours of Palermo - half day tour
Palermo's highlights half day shore excursion or private tour:
Under the Arabs and the Normans, Palermo became one of the most beautiful cities in the world. Several monuments reflect the magnificence of two worlds: East and West. We will visit the 12th century Palatine Chapel, built by the Norman King Roger II, all decorated with Byzantine and Islamic-style mosaics. The Church of St. John of the Hermits built just like a red-domed Mosque. The nearby Cathedral was built by the Norman Bishop Walter of the Mill, but every new ruling dynasty that conquered the island added its own unique style.
We visit first the Palatine Chapel in the Royal Palace, next the Church of St. John of the Hermits and the Cathedral of Palermo.

Josie was a great guide and gave us lots of really useful information about Palermo. She was extremely knowledgeable and enthusiastic about her subject and we felt we had a real insight into Palermo and some of its unique history. We would thoroughly recommend her as a tour guide. The Arab Norman history of Palermo is amazing and the Palatine chapel especially is stunning.
