Active but relaxed tour outside the city
At just 13 miles from Amsterdam, is one of the most beautiful National Parks of the Netherlands. This is where is I do my weekly run. Just behind the sanddunes protecting us against the Northsea, you can enjoy the landscape of the National Park South Kennemerland: 3800 acres of dunes with rare flora and fauna. We cycle through ancient forests and hope to see large herbivores such as Scottish Highland cattle and Konik horses.
During WWII this area was forbidden to enter. The Nazis used the sanddunes for their Atlantik-defense wall, and to execute members of the resistance. So we can still see Nazi bunkers, monuments at execution places and an impressive Honory Cemetary with the grave of The Girl with the Red Hair, Hannie Schaft.
We can go through the area by bike or we can go walking if you prefer. We can do distances of just 2 miles, up to 25 miles. We can use normal bikes, or electric bikes. We can have coffee breaks in between. . . . It's not a race, it must be fun for everybody.
Transfer from Amsterdam hotel to Zandvoort
Cycling / walking Kennemer Dunes National Park
Transfer back to Amsterdam hotel
All the paths where we will cycle, are paved. It is a National park so its not permitted to leave the paths. In some areas this is allowed, but only walking. It is a hilly area (dunes) but it will not be a problem for everybody with a normal condition. It is a very safe area for cycling, much and much safer then cycling in Amsterdam. No cars allowed here. It is however important that you know how to ride a bike. If you have any doubts or questions, just ask me.
The tour is also possible for your group. I can arrange busses in all sizes. Just contact me.

In case of rain or other personal circumstances that you dont want to do this tour, we will do something else. A good alternative is a visit to the City of Haarlem, or we can do a half day tour in Amsterdam to one of the museums or countryside, just let me know.
Transportation is included. I will arrange transfers to and from Amsterdam. These could be done by myself, or otherwise I arrange a taxi. In that case I meet you at the start / end point of the bike tour. We could even go by train if you prefer.
The transfers from and to Amsterdam are included, the guide, and the bike rental.
The standard bike is a normal bike with gears. These are not sportbikes or mountainbikes but they are fine for this hilly area, because the paths are all paved. If you want to walk instead of biking, there will be a discount of course. Let me know.

The standard bike is a normal bike with gears. These are not sportbikes or mountainbikes but they are fine for this hilly area, because the paths are all paved. If you want electric bikes, there will be a surcharge of 15 euro per bike. If you want specific sport/mountainbikes, there will be a surcharge as well but this is on request so let me know.
I do guide in museums where that is allowed, such as the Vincent van Gogh, Rembrandthouse, Rijksmuseum, Frans Hals museum, Mauritshouse. I have a lot of knowledge about the Dutch history, but please do note that I am not an art historian.
