Experience the beauty, uniqueness, and magic of this area
You will experience the beauty & magic of this side/part of the Big Island, why it unique in the Hawaiian chain, and why I have chosen to live here. You will learn a lot about Hawaiian history, culture, the language, trees, fruits, flowers, birds, animals, and more. There will be many great photo ops. It will be a very educational, informative, interesting, fun, and memorable tour that you will remember & cherish the rest of your life.
In Hilo the highlights and choices are the Kamehameha Statue, the Imiloa Astronomy & Hawaiian Cultural Center with Planetarium (about 2 hours and $17 for adults, $9 for children), Rainbow Falls (which is nice but pales in comparison to Akaka twin falls), and if it's a Wednesday the Hilo Farmers market. From Hilo we head north over the "singing bridge" up the Hamakua Coast, stop at Baker Tom's Bakery in Pepeekeo, take the incredibly beautiful 4 mile Onomea scenic route along the tropical rainforest coast that has several one lane bridges, waterfalls, and a great botanical garden that goes down to a beautiful bay which takes from 1 hour to 1-1/2 hours or take a free, short 600 ft. old Donkey Trail. Next is Akaka Falls, the tallest, most beautiful water fall in Hawaii. Next we'll stop at Kolekole Beach park and we'll be stopping at Tex's in Honoka'a for Malasadas (Warm Portuguese donuts with no hole and several filling choices) on the way to the very beautiful, scenic Waipio Valley overlook.
