A highlight of the Lake Biwa tour is Chikubu-sima Island's Hougon Temple and Tsurubusuma Shrine, along with the Pilgram Stairs. They are welcome addition to the temples and shrines we viewed in Kyoto. A comfortable boat ride transported us to the island. The views are beautiful! Nagahama with its historic shopping streets, restaurants, museum and cherry and plum blossom gardens is well worth visiting. Kenji is a knowledgeable, friendly and hospitable guide. We really enjoyed our day with him! Recommended!
