VIsit Saint Malo, in the footsteps of Marie-Laure
Summer 1944, the Nazis occupy Paris. Marie-Laure, a blind French girl and her father flee to the walled citadel of Saint-Malo. They will stay by her reclusive great-uncle in a tall house by the sea, 4 rue Vauborel.
If you have loved the book "All the lights we cannot see", you will enjoy this guided tour around the old town of Saint Malo. From Marie-laure's house to the places that were familiar to her (the beach, the bakery, the Fort National, the Hotel of Bees, etc. ), we will search for Anthony Doerr's sources of inspiration throughout the city.
"On the rue de la Crosse, the Hotel of Bees becomes almost weightless for a moment, lifted in a spiral of flame, before it begins to rain the pieces back to the earth"
― Anthony Doerr, All the Light We Cannot See

We so much enjoyed our walk with Valerie, learning about St. Malo and the real-life places that inspired the book.
