just 40 minutes by hydrofoil from Piraeus port in Athens.
First we'll visit the beautiful old village of Pachiarachi. Many of its houses are over a century old and most of them were in ruins and have been restored.
Our next stop will be the coastal village of Portes
A drive through lush pine forests along a scenic coastal road will take us to the resort of Aegia Marina.
From there we'll make our way up to the magnificent Temple of Afaia which is one of the best preserved Doric temples in Greece.
Then we'll walk along the paths of the Byzantine village of Palia chora. All that remains standing are 33 quaint churches that dot the hillside.
We'll also visit Chrysoleontissa, a 400 year old monestry nestled up in the hills.
The church of Saint Nectarous is dedicated to one of the two patron saints of the island. No expense has been spared to build this beautiful cathedral to honor him.
Then on to Aegina town with her neoclassical buildings, busy fish market and graphic port where you will be able to enjoy a delicious meal and stroll
It is a twenty minute drive up to Pachiarachi. The drive from Pachiarachi to Portes needs apporxomately 10 minutes. The drive from Portes to Aegia Marina will take a further 20 minutes. It's a ten minute drive from Afaia to Paliachora and from there to Chrysoleontissa a further ten minutes. Aegina town another ten minutes. So all in all we will be driving for an hour and a half.

Sandra guided us on a lovely walk in the hills of Aegina. We hiked to an old stone village we would never have found alone. Sandra pointed out the local plants and their smells, tastes and uses. Along the path there were beautiful views f the countryside and the sea. We requested and truly enjoyed having one of dogs along. On our way back to our hotel she stopped to show us pistachio trees being picked, private beaches and some of her favorite restaurants.
