Aarhus is Denmark's second largest city but feels more like a town due to its location by the sea and being surrounded by a large forest to the south and a lake/wetland area to the west.
Let me show you Aarhus - we will hear the cycle bells, taste local specialities and imagine the smells that would have been around in the Middle Age.
I have lived, worked, studied and enjoyed my life in this wonderful town for the past 30 years and know secret places that tourists seldom find. I hold a degree in science and a Bachelor of Arts in textile and spend much of my spare time outdoors running, walking and tending to my allotment.
Having worked as a geologist for the Ministry of the Environment I can give you an insight into how our landscape was formed. How the water level in the local seas once was much higher thus allowing our ancestors to travel far into the interior by boat. And explore the question of what is being done today to protect the town from any future flooding caused by climate change.
Architecture and art are among my passions and I always take delight in showing our visitors impressive buildings, fantastic frescoes and exciting local galleries. Aarhus is the European Capital of Culture in 2017.
I also worked as a Tour leader for Danish groups through many parts of Europe, so I can handle group requests as well.
