Private Four Hours Shore excursion
The history of Grand Turk is inextricably linked to Europe, Africa, America and the wider Caribbean.
I will take you to see how history is chronicled on the exhibit of the oldest European shipwreck discovered in the Western Hemisphere (dated around 1505), share the historic landing of John Glenn's space mission on Grand Turk island and take you to the location of Christopher Columbus' landfall.
There you can enjoy the powdered sandy beach or dive in inviting crystal waters reflecting every shade of blue, or simply remain in the shade and enjoy!
You'll ride past the former United States Air Force Tracking Base and see a replica of Astronaut John Glenn's Friendship 7 space capsule. Throughout your journey, you will see several 18th century churches, beautiful Bermudian-style buildings, and salt ponds. Don't be surprised to see wild horses and donkeys freely roaming the streets. The tour continues to the Turks and Caicos National Museum which features an exhibit of the Molasses Reef Wreck, the oldest European shipwreck discovered in the Western Hemisphere (dated around 1505). Enjoy a stop to see the 150+ year old working lighthouse and visit "The Salt House", a recreated 17th century salt pan that chronicles the history of the salt and slave industry. Taste some local snacks here, before proceeding to the Bohio Resort where you can enjoy the laid back island atmosphere or snorkel, if you wish.
