Tour with a Local

Come face to face with the giant monolithic limestone Rock the Rock of Gibraltar, which stands 426 meters from the ground. The legend says that the Rock was 1 of the Pillars of Hercules. Your guide explains the myths and History, in ancient times this pillar along with a 2nd pillar in Africa Known as Mons Abyla, marked the limit of the known world and encouraged maritime discoveries.

First we would drive to the Pillars of Hercules. There at the Pillars you will enjoy the views of North Africa. You will see where the Atlantic Ocean meets the Mediterranean Sea, being the only entrance to the Mediterranean. The next stop is St Michaels Cave. This is an amazing, natural, phenomenon which sees thousands of visitors a year wandering through its huge caverns with a few steps and easy access. Next we will go to the top of the Rock where you will see breathtaking views of Gibraltar. Here we will have an interaction with our famous apes. From there we will drive to the north side of the Rock to visit the Great Siege Tunnels, something not to be missed. This site explains a lot of the history of Gibraltar under siege. Next the Moorish Castle the construction of which was commenced in the 8th century AD (possibly AD 711), but there is no record of when it was completed. We then drive down through the old town Towards the 100 tonne Gun. Then Europe point. 360 degree round the rock , and over airport

A Recent Review of this tour

Paul picked us up at the pier as planned and gave each couple a very nice information package. He was aware of our walking limitations and gave us a great tour including a spectacular stop at the highest point on the rock which we had all to ourselves! As opposed to the tour buses, Paul took us right to the attraction entrances saving lots of steep steps. The outstanding part of the tour was Paul's insights on Gibraltar's past, present and future. Showing us where he played as a kid was special.
