~The path to the truth & justice - the bridge to an everlasting life~
The Valley of the Kings is a completely inferior funerary complex, compared to the pyramids further north in Egypt. However, the decorations illustrate the thoughts and ideas, and the expectations for the afterworld to a degree that the pyramids do not.
There are usually 30-40 open tombs, but the size varies a lot as well as the artistic level of the wall decorations. Most visitors will be satisfied with visiting 3-5 tombs, and a good experience is mostly decided by whether you can walk around a tomb by yourself or not.
The Valley of the Queens was built to house the tombs of the queens, princes and Princesses of the XVIII, XVIV, and XX.
The Temple of Hatshepsut the First honours the only woman who get the Pharaoh title -as it was reserved almost exclusively for men. Concerning her death, there isn't any proof whether she was murdered or died naturally. . . |

Discover the West bank of Luxor. First, we visit Valley of the Kings, the magnificence of the grandeur of architecture which was used for burial. There are many kings buried in this valley. The most known tombs are King Tutmosis I, Tutmosis III, Tut-Ankh-Amon, King Ramssess VI, King Mrenptah and Amonhotep II.
We then Continue to Valley of the Queens which is located on Luxor, west bank of the River Nile, one and a half kilometers southwest of the Valley of the Kings. This is also known as Biban al Harim and Ta Set Neferu, which means "seat of beauty". It was built to house the tombs of the queens, princes and Princesses of the XVIII, XVIV, and XX. Enjoy the Temple of Queen Hatshepsut, which was built by Queen Hatshepsut, daughter of Thutmosis I, who ruled Egypt about 20 years during the 18th Dynasty (1490-1469 B. C). The only pharaonic woman who ever reigned over ancient Egypt. |
