Santa Marta is the favela, where Michael Jackson made his videoclip "They don't care about us". Alicia Keys and Beyoncé have also visited the renovate terrace in homage to the star.
This community is one of the first in Rio with a police station (UPP). There are no drug-dealers anymore and crime has reduced.
During the 3 to 4-hour-tour, we will go up in the mountain, where you will have a 360° view of Rio and walk down the favela passing by the police station, the sport center, the Jackson's terrace and many more.
It is fascinating to know about the facts, histories and also the reasons of these kind of constructions. In addition you will experience the inhabitants' hospitality.
This tour also supports children from the favela, financing English-lessons and preparing tour apprentices.

Lastly, we recommend you to wear comfortable shoes, as this tour will mainly take place between narrow streets with many steps. |

The tour starts at 9am or at 2 pm.
From 9am to 9:30 or 14pm to 14:30:
The first half hour is the pickup time. I use to pick the pax up at the hotel, sometimes we have to make a meeting point.
From 9:30 to 10am:
or 2:pm to 2:30pm:
We drive up to one mountain with has a wonderfull 180 degrees view. There we have our first stop for fotos.
At 10 am or 3pm we start walk down the favela. Talking about the social reality, the strong social kontrast in Rio and Brasil.
10:am or 3pm: fotostop for another view from the Christ Redemmer. Details from the lifestyle, talkings and curiosities.
11:am or 4pm:Stop at the Michael Jackson's terrace.
11:30am or 3:30pm At this time we are down taking the transport back to the hotel or to the meeting point.
12: or 5pm: The pax are back to the Hotel. |
